About Your Counselor: Misty R Davis

For over eight years, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside many incredible clients, each one teaching me lessons that no formal training ever could. I bring genuine passion and compassion to this work, and I’m truly grateful for the remarkable people I get to support.

It’s one of the few professions where you form deep, meaningful connections with people you’d otherwise love to call friends.

My journey began as a researcher and genetic counselor at Yale University, where I quickly discovered that human connection mattered more to me than the research itself.

Over the years, I’ve worked with adults, children, couples, and individuals navigating everything from serious mental illness to life’s everyday transitions.

Outside of work, I’m married and live in Virginia with my husband, our three adult children, and our 15-year-old dog, Sam. I am a Christian, though it is just one of many lenses through which I view the world.

Enouragement To Call

Opening up to a counselor about the most sensitive parts of your life takes real courage — and you should be proud of yourself for taking this step. Without a concerted effort and the right support, much of what weighs us down never gets released.

I’m here to share practical tools and strategies to help you live your best life, no matter what you’ve been through. Let’s not waste another moment. Let’s start this journey together.

If sitting with your thoughts brings up feelings of sadness, anxiety, guilt, or shame, it may be time to address the negative beliefs that have taken root within you. Our brains are wired to favor familiar patterns and habits, making change feel uncomfortable and difficult without the right support.

When we try to make a positive change, our brain often resists, clinging to old patterns — even when those patterns no longer serve us.
